MSc in Neural Systems and Computation

Core Modules

Basics of Instrumentation, Measurement, and Analysis (4 ECTS)

This is a tool module on the basics of instrumentation, measurement, and analysis. Students learn to operate basic lab equipment, perform simple signal operations and measurement, and the basics of data analysis. To obtain credit points, students must hand in a written report at the end of the module.

Readings in Neuroinformatics (3 ECTS)

Students read and discuss classical works in the fields of systems and computational neurosciences. The performance will be assessed throughout the term by grading several abstracts written by the student. Besides the formal course hour, the course work will also require additional time (ca. 2 hours per week) to complete.

Journal Club (2 ECTS)

The Journal Club is a weekly event at the Institute of Neuroinformatics where participants including Master’s students discuss recently published articles. Discussions are animated by a weekly changing presenter. To obtain credit points, participants must each present at least one article.

Colloquium (0 ECTS)

The Colloquium is a weekly mandatory event held at the Institute of Neuroinformatics where a guest speaker presents his/her recent work.

Please note: The weekly 'INI Meeting' is also mandatory (currently Wednesday 16:00).
